CSGG & Annual Golf Tournament- a Brief History
The event was the idea of Gilbert Diamond, who had a small vacation trailer in Ensenada, Mexico. The first trip was made with six(6) golfers who were all ex-high school athletes from Jordan High School located, in Watts, California ,there were Gilbert Diamond, Ted Brown, Ernest Knight, Minor Robinson, Peter Thompson, and John Finney.
During the Ensenada years we stayed at various hotels in the area, and played golf at the Ensenada Country Club, Bajamar Country Club, Real Del Mar Country Club, and the Tijuana Country Club.
As we continued, we added friends of the original six, and have grown to an average of about twenty- five players. The aim was and still is to have fun and enjoy each other’s company.
From the original six, GILBERT DIAMOND, ERNEST KNIGHT, MINOR ROBINSON, AND PETER THOMPSON have passed on. TED BROWN AND JOHN FINNEY ARE STILL INVOLVED to keep the group going.
